The European Green Deal is the basis for Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 of the European Parliament and Council addresses the supply of specific raw materials and, subsequently, all products listed in Annex 1 (EDUR) that are manufactured from these raw materials, on the Union market and their export from the Union, while repealing Regulation (EU) No. 995/2010, which will enter into force on 30 December 2026.

The regulation fundamentally affects the seven raw materials wood, coffee, cocoa, rubber, soy, cattle and the oil palm. Products made from these raw materials are also affected, such as wooden seating furniture, pneumatic tires made from rubber, cocoa, soya and coffee beans, as well as beef. The relevant products are defined by their customs tariff number, whereby the scope of the regulation mainly includes product groups.

The EUDR obliges companies to fulfill a variety of due diligence obligations. These include, in particular, the obligation to ensure that the products that a company places on the market have been produced without deforestation and without damaging forests.
